C. Edward Boardwine – President and CEO
Edward Boardwine holds a B.S. (1968) in Electrical Engineering from the West Virginia University Institute of Technology. Prior to joining Excera, he was President/CEO and an equity holder in Simcala, one of the world’s largest producers of silicon metal. Simcala was sold to Dow Corning in 2003. Mr. Boardwine has extensive experience in profit/loss management of molten metal operations. He has also held management positions in sales, marketing and product development in non-ferrous industries.
Ken Jones- Chief Financial Officer
Ken earned BS Engineering and MBA degrees at the University of Virginia. He is a licensed (inactive) CPA in the State of Ohio. His 30 years of business experience include field engineering, sales, export financing and international management, with a two year Tokyo assignment as president of AccuRay Japan (nka ABB). He has also held positions with PriceWaterhouse/Coopers and Battelle Memorial Institute in Columbus, Ohio. Ken served as CFO of Photonic Integration Research, Inc. (PIRI) from its inception in 1987 through its sale to SDL, Inc. in 2000. He is a director of Applied Innovation, Inc. (NASDAQ) and recently formed Emerald Bank, and chairs the Audit Committees of each.
Lee Ann Schwope – Manager of Engineering and Production
Lee Ann Schwope holds a BS in Materials Science & Engineering from the Ohio State University. While a student at OSU, Lee Ann managed the student-run Formula SAE (FSAE) design team, where she oversaw all aspects of the effort with a focus on composite design and fabrication. Ms. Schwope is one of the developers of Excera’s armor technology and currently oversees manufacturing activities at Excera as well as manages integration of Excera’s ceramic composite materials into finished armor systems. Ms. Schwope received the Women In Engineering (WIE) leadership award for 2002-2003.
Barb Rockwell – Customer Service, Accounting and Administration Manager
Barb Rockwell earned a BS in Business from Otterbein College and an Accounting Certificate from Columbus State University. She spent the early part of her career working in customer support and program/staff management. Prior to Excera Barb spent 5 years working as an accountant managing both general accounting and audit responsibilities. She is a licensed (inactive) CPA in the State of Ohio.
Glenn S. Daehn – Technical Advisor & Co-Founder
Glenn Daehn is one of the co-founders of Excera and is also the Mars G. Fontana Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Ohio State University. His academic research centers on novel materials processing where fundamental principles can be applied to solving practical problems. Dr. Daehn holds a B.S. (1983) from Northwestern University, and M.S. and Ph.D. (1988) from Stanford University, all in Materials Science and Engineering. He won an NYI (National Young Investigator) award from NSF in 1992, was awarded the Grossman Young Author award of NSF in 1990 and received the Lansing Gold Medal of TMS in 1992. He has published over 100 technical articles.
